Sri Lanka is a must – visit destination for those seeking a rich cultural experience . The country’s highlights include the Kandy Esala Perahera , a vibrant procession that showcases Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage . 

The Perahera features beautifully adorned elephants , drummers , dancers , fire – eaters , and acrobats , all parading through the streets in honor of the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha . The procession takes place over ten days , with the final five days being the most elaborate . 

This event is a must – see for anyone visiting Sri Lanka , as it provides a unique insight into the customs and traditions of the island nation . In addition to the Perahera , Sri Lanka offers delicious Ceylon cuisine and a diverse range of natural resources , including waterfalls , beaches , misty mountain ranges , national parks , and rainforests .

DAY 1 - Airport - Pinnawala - Kandy - 135 km / 3hrs 15min.

Arrive at the airport and meet your driver/guide

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, home to the world’s largest troupe of captive, tamed and
trained elephants. Either you could observe the baby elephants being bottled fed or enjoy
the experience of bottle feeding the baby elephants. Close-up encounters with orphaned
elephants at Pinnawala will be a memory that will stay with you for a life time.

DAY 1

Activities & Highlights

Drive to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and witness the feeding and bathing of
elephants
Optional: Walk alongside the elephants or embark on an exciting elephant safari.
Visit the Spice Garden en route to Kandy where you can learn about the different
types of spices
grown in Sri Lanka and their medicinal properties
Proceed to Kandy and check-in at the hotel.

DAY 2 - Kandy Day Excursion - 10 / 12 hrs.

Kandy, the hill capital of Sri Lanka and the second largest city in the island. Kandy is also the
country’s religious and cultural center. Kandy which is a UNESCO declared World Heritage City.
The city was developed in the 14th century and became the capital of the Kingdom of Kandy in
the 16th century. Kandy continues the living tradition of the arts and crafts, music and dance
and song which flourished continuously in the island nation for centuries.

DAY 3 - Kandy to Nuwara Eliya - 80 km / 2hrs 30min.

Nuwara Eliya that’s also known as “Little England” by the locals. Layers of mountains covered in
tea plantations surround this beautiful quaint retreat covered in mist and cool weather. Many
plants that you cannot find in other cities in Sri Lanka are grown here and, as a result many
vegetables, fruits and flowers are grown by the locals.

Nuwara Eliya

Visit the Royal Botanical Gardens
Drive to Nuwara Eliya, enjoying the scenic views of the tea plantations
Visit Ramboda Falls on your way to Nuwara Eliya
Take a tour of a tea factory and learn about tea production
Lunch at a local restaurant & Check-in at the hotel
Drive to Lake Gregory & Continue with leisure activities.

DAY 5 - Nuwara Eliya to Bentota - 210km / 5hrs 10min.

Bentota’s sandy beaches, extensive lagoon and exciting water sports have made this resort town famous. The best time to visit this city is from November to April, as the calm seas are ideal for snorkelling, diving, sailing, and wind-surfing.
